Gallery Steinsland Berliner, Stockholm
Malin Gabriella Nordin is often associated with the lyrically colourful and expressive compositions she creates and presents in the form of paintings, drawings, collages or sculptures. She moves freely between mediums, favouring a playfully spontaneous aesthetic that ranges from almost childlike in its freedom, to complex and highly detailed. References to earlier modernist artists are detectable, if these are imagined as being experienced through a slow-moving kaleidoscope. Abstract florals and broken up landscapes are, disjointed yet sensuously flowing, as if being remembered from a dream. A complete embracing of colour, texture and form are essential to Nordin’s way of creating. The relationship between artist and material is in this case one of complete synergy, Nordin is a visceral creator, her process is navigated by the dialogue taking place between her and the material, one action leading to another - the final outcome often a revelation even for her. This interplay generates imagery that feels inherently organic despite its recognizably manufactured composition. Mosaic arrangements of colour and pattern make up scenes in which lush foliage is intertwined with humanoid figures and other ambiguously familiar identifiers.

GSB/Gallery Steinsland Berliner was conceived in 2008 by Jeanette Steinsland and Jacob Kampp Berliner in Stockholm, Sweden. Its prior intent was to showcase and present emerging as well as established artists. We constantly strive to promote our artists internationally, while taking a high level of pride in incorporating all aspects within the art world from performance to paintings. Additionally, GSB takes part in the on-going socio-political discussions appearing on the art scene.
