The gallery opened in late 2003 in an old theater/vitamin factory in
central Stockholm. Milliken has 2 exhibition spaces totaling 130
square meters out of 400 meters and has a permanent video/film room
making it one of the largest commercial galleries in Stockholm
dedicated to contemporary art. The gallery works with museums and
state collections in the Nordic region and well as greater Europe.
Under the past year Milliken, Gallery has actively explored the young
art scene from a Swedish context with large scale exhibitions by
Kristina Jansson, Matti Kallioinen, Lars Siltberg, Per Enoksson, and
Fredrik Söderberg. The gallery has then juxtaposed these shows with
group exhibitions, for example, LA Trash and Treasure with Jason
Meadows, Evan Holloway, Sterling Ruby, Richard Hawkins, Tom Allen,
Aaron Curry, Patrick Hill, Ry Rocklen, Gerald Davis, Gustavo Herrera,
Mindy Shapero, Henry Taylor, Amy Sarkisian, Liz Craft, John Williams.
Curator: Liv Stoltz and Simple curated by writers/artists Dr. Ronald
Jones and Laurie Makela that included artists such as Andrea Zittel,
Rirkrit Tiravanija and early 20th century cult artist Hilma af Klint.
