NUNU FINE ART, Taipei
Nunu Fine Art is pleased to present a joint exhibition of Iabadiou Piko and Siri Kollandsrud. Established in Taipei, Taiwan, Nunu Fine Art has been serving as a platform for showcasing quality contemporary arts from Asia, Europe, and North America. Our exhibition in Volta 14 Basel shall bring our international visitors an extraordinary experience with an immersive space constructed with the abstract language of paintings and installations. The show will lead the visitors into an artistic world that looms between the solid and the intangible, between physical and spiritual senses.
Indonesian artist Iabadiou Piko has amazed his audience with his vibrant colors and untamed touch on canvas. In his paintings, an abstract and semi-symbolic syntax is developed with the attempt to seize the intangible and fleeting moments in life, the moments consisted of vague feelings and indistinct perceptions, yet resonating violently with the artists’ keen primitive senses. Intuitive and playful textures are formed under the mixture of multiple materials, including acrylic, charcoal, oil paint, Indonesian volcanic ash and bitumen.
Meanwhile, Siri Kollandsrud has created poetic paintings with her mellow touch of shapes and colors. When lines and forms, dots and shadows build up the composition, a playground of rhythmic sequences emerges like an organism. Wrapped in a balanced hue, the fragments of life were transformed by her into images that can only be read in between senses and imaginations. Her crocheted installation creates a similar surreal effect: floral-shaped objects hanging from above, withered while mimicking life, as if they exist only in between our reality and untouchable dreams.
