Hugo Alonso is a Spanish artist born in 1981. He studied Fine Arts in Salamanca and Rome. Now he lives and works in Madrid.
His paintings explore the relationship between cinematic reality and our everyday reality as well as possible analogies between the history of painting and the history of cinema. He has exhibited extensively across Spain. He has been present in international contemporary art fairs such as Arco, Art Paris or Seattle Art Fair among others. He has been part of group shows as This is not a love song (Pera Museum, Instambul), Expanded Light (Telefonica Fundation, Madrid) or Heterotopies (Oktogon HfBK, Dresde). His last solo exhibitions are November (Miquel Alzueta Gallery, Barcelona) and Raw (Youn Gallery, Montreal).
In October he was the artist invited by The New York Times Magazine to make a painting for the cover.
