"Physical image, Logical Image."

If there is a common factor in the works of Javier Arbizu, Manuel Antonio Dominguez, and Antonio Xoubanova is the use, or misuse of photography to question what we understand as an image and the processes by which we ordinarily relate to them. In their works the photographic image appears to be sometimes a device, an object, or a detached reality to analyze, re-represent and modify. It seems that these strategies aim to make conveyable aspects of reality that belong to the world of the sensible and that therefore can only exist in relation to one self. As sensitive is not an inherent property of things, but exists only as a relation of a subject with the world. In other words, we cannot make a representation of a thing in itself without transforming it into a "for-us", or in Hegel's words, we cannot surprise the object from behind.

Angeles Baños’ proposal for VOLTA13 presents three singular universes, in which the differences between the ideas of painting, photography, image and object becomes blurry. Three reflections on contemporary social imaginary, where reality, illusion are alike.
