Gary Coyle & Sean Lynch are interested in the “local” and transcending that by the art making process into the “Universal”.

Coyle has been visiting the well know 40 Ft swimming spot in Dublin for the last decade. He has bottled the water ,recorded each experience in a diary, taken photographs in the water and has worked on large-scale drawings of the sea. To submerge yourself in this work is to submerge yourself in the experience of the daily swimmer. The result of this investigation is AT SEA THE DAILY PRACTISE OF SWIMMING.

Lynch’s artworks investigate and reflect upon the methods, understandings and representations involved in dealing with the contents of history. In recent years the idea of spotlighting idiosyncratic moments of the past has been his primary concern. The photographs, installations and publications artworks generated in this process are speculative and open-ended in nature, engaging the contingencies of interpreting legacies of historical and cultural knowledge.
