Persijn Broersen & Margit Lukács make video works that cannot just be pinned down to one aspect, but tumbles around in a twofold world. They often combine documentary footage with e.g. photo-animation in order to master distance in space and time. The aim is to bounce the viewer back and forth between involvement and distance, surely to rethink his/her own position, but also allow the viewer to sometimes just ride along, to be there. This meandering between two poles (conventions versus the individual reality) is a constant in their work. In the video Prime Time Paradise, we will present at VOLTA6, the self-created time between the cut out media-tableaux functions as a distant planet where one can wander about after one’s encounter with the reality of television, that is to say the flood of images of daily news and soaps and more.
