Dan Halter

Born 1977 in Harare, Zimbabwe
In his work Dan Halter interrogates and engages with the politics of post-colonial Zimbabwe. He has had three solo exhibitions. The first, titled Take Me to Your Leader, was held at the João Ferreira Gallery in Cape Town in 2006 followed by Never Say Never at the Derbylius Gallery in Milan in 2008 and Double Entry at the Whatiftheworld Gallery in Cape Town in 2010. Selected group shows include US at the South African National Gallery curated by Simon Njami, Zeitgenössiche Fotokunst aus Südafrika at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (NBK) and VideoBrasil in São Paulo and the 2009 Havana Biennale. In 2008, he was a MTN New Contemporaries selection, and has completed three international residencies, in Zürich, Rio de Janeiro and Scotland. He has recently been selected to exhibit in the 7th Triennial of Contemporary Textile Arts of Tournai to be hosted in Belgium later this year.
