VOLTA: Artist Project 3 - Morten Viskum

All the animals in Viskum’s Monogram» series are placed on a painted board, with rhythmical and neatly executed strokes all of which are applied with a dead hand. Monogram VII, presents a Zebra, its graphic black and white stripes in stark dramatic contrast to the vibrating fingertip marks on the hand painting. Monogram VII is perhaps the most striking of Viskum’s Monogram Series which will eventually consist of twelve works. They directly reference Rauschenberg's iconic sculpture «Monogram» (1959) - one of the most influential works of the 21st century. As with Rauschenbergs Monogram, Viskum is aiming at a radical juxtaposition of objects and media filtered through his alternative imagery.
