Born 1968 in Bogotá, Colombia

 

Baraya has been working for years on a project called Artificial Plants Herbarium, which is to collect, catalog, photograph and inventory artificial flowers and plants worldwide. This last project, the Artificial Plant Herbarium, 2002-2010, is a proposal that discusses the scientific paradigm as an axis to legitimizing nineteenth and twentieth century colonial enterprises and is, in turn, a reflection on contemporary domestic aesthetic acts.
