He attended the Contemporary Art School set up by Avdei Ter-Oganyan, which gave birth to a whole generation of Moscow artists who later created the well-known group Radek Community.
He started his individual carreer in 2005 and from his earliest works, David was drawn to the theme of social unrest, balancing between the concepts of “violence”, “revolt”, and “resistance”.
David Ter-Oganyan has taken part in several group exhibition including: “The Individual and the Power,” Manifesta 4 (Frankfurt, 2001), “Art and Crime” (Berlin, 2003), “Art with No Excuse”, Shiusev Museum of Architecture (Moscow, 2004), “Disobedience”, Künstlerhaus Bethanien (2005),Turin Triennal (2006), Progressive Nostalgia (Prato-Italy 2007), Istanbul Biennal 2007. Some of his most important solo exhibitions are ‘Scale 30:1’ and ‘Brake and take’ (prometeogallery di Ida Pisani, Milan) and ‘Dormants’ (Xl gallery, Moscow).
