Riflemaker

Presents: Jaime Gili, Indica, Francesca Lowe, John Maeda, Marta Marce

Riflemaker opened in May 2004 with Jamie Shovlin’s ‘Naomi v. Jelish’

odyssey. Exhibitions are eight weeks long (two shows run consecutively on separate floors). Apart from presenting the most ambitious young artists, we have one 'retrospective' each year: 2004: 'Martin Kippenberger and MoMA at Syros', 2005: 'The Unseen Art of William Burroughs', and in November 2006: 'Riflemaker becomes Indica'. All shows feature Monday night talks and events.

In October 2005, 30,000 people visited Burroughs ‘shot drawings’ exhibition following major attention for Jamie Shovlin, Marta Marce and Jaime Gili. Shovlin has recently had a solo show at Tate Britain. Gili created 'Ruta Rota' for London Architecture Week. Julie Verhoeven built a virtual 'garden' for which Graham Coxon provided a sixty minute ‘silent’ soundtrack.

Riflemaker also originates off-site projects involving the gallery's artists. Previous collaborators include the Contemporary Art Society, Soane Museum, Transport for London and Platform for Art.
