Marella Gallery was founded in 1994 to promote contemporary art.
At the beginning the gallery developed a program primarily focusing on American Art and later the attention evolved on the new emerging scenes, like China, Russia and Japan.
The gallery is now featuring and showing besides painting, the work of photographers and new media artists. Among the artists with which the gallery works are Andres Serrano, David Levinthal, John Divola, Motohiko Odani, Eleanor Antin, Amy Sarkisian, Li Wei, Tim Davis, Wang Qingsong, Lyudmila Gorlova, Tacita Dean, Wang Ningde,Cui Xiuwen,Weng Fen, Cang Xin, Ma Liuming, Wang Wei, Liu Wei, Huang Yan, Shi Jingsong, Luca Francesconi, Bai Yiluo, Adrian Tranquilli.
The research on painting is also focusing on emerging artists featuring works of Stefan Hirsig, Alexis Harding, Mike Stubbs, Terry Rodgers, Zhou Tiehai, He Sen, Feng Zhengjie, Li Dafang, Zhang Xiaotao, Chris Johanson, John Bankston, Ouattara Watts, among others.
Marella Gallery has a branch in Beijing- China (in the Factory 798) where it is focusing on new emerging Chinese artists.
